Making headlines 👀

In case you missed it, we recently made the local news for some of the work we have been doing at Boundary Park! The brilliant Oldham Chronicle article is below.

Her Game Too is a national campaign aimed at eradicating sexism within sport and making sport more accessible for women and girls at all levels.

Oldham Athletic partnered with Her Game Too in February and soon recruited six female fans - Lead Ambassador Alison Schofield and advocates Dawn Marsden, Sammy Dixon, Lauren Parry, Kerry Topping and Andrea Wilkes - to act as representatives for the cause.

As part of the campaign, Her Game Too want to ensure that sanitary products and facilities are available to women and girls at stadiums across the country and Latics were very passionate about supporting this mission.

Over the summer, the HGT team approached several local businesses to try and secure funding and donations for the products.

Sainsburys in Oldham and Co-op in Royton pledged their support and the products were installed ahead of the first home game last Saturday.

Royton Co-op will be donating products on a regular basis for the 2022/2023 season.

Store manager Darren Ramsden said: “When we were approached by Her Game Too representatives it was a quick no brainer for us.

“Period poverty is rife and as a community shop we want to stand proud alongside Oldham Athletic and Her Game Too to help in the supply of pads and tampons that otherwise may not be available.”

Co-op Royton

Sainburys Oldham made a generous one off donation and offered more support when possible.

Customer Experience manager Lynsey Smith said: “We are a diverse and inclusive company.

"Oldham Athletic is our local football club and we are proud to sponsor this great cause.”

These community minded donations mean that there will be ample sanitary products available throughout the season for anyone who may need them.

The Her Game Too Team will work with Oldham Athletic staff to ensure the baskets remain stocked.

Her Game Too lead ambassador Alison said: “I want to thank both Co-op Royton and Sainsburys Oldham for their generous sponsorship and donations.

"It means so much to us that local businesses want to get on board with this initiative and support their community and local club.

"I hope this small step will ensure supporters both home and away feel welcomed into Boundary Park and our great club.”
