CALLING THE SHOTS: say hello to Aldershot Town fan Laura!

Kyrie, Darcie & Laura

Name: Laura Chiverton (Chivvy)

Team: Aldershot Town

Can you tell us something special about your hometown that we may not know?

Aldershot is known as “the home of the British Army”. It is a garrison town that serves as the location for the military presence in the area.

In 2012 the Dalai Lama visited our football ground during his eight day visit to the UK

Furthest you have travelled to watch your team?

Morecambe on a Tuesday night. I currently live in Exeter in Devon so even home games feel like an away day!

What got you in to football?

I was dating a Shots fan who took me along to my first game in 2005. We are not together now but 17 years later I am still here. I love the club.

Laura

Favourite memory as a fan?

I can’t decide between a couple of memories.

Torquay and Exeter away in 2008 to secure promotion to league two and as champions or beating West Ham 2-1 at Upton Park in the Carling Cup in 2011.

Predictions for this season for your team?

Being realistic with the number of former EFL clubs and some of the budgets other clubs have at their disposal in comparison, I would say 14th - 18th.

Prediction for todays game?

Prediction 2-2

Darcie & Laura

What would you say to any women/girls who are thinking about getting into football as player/fan?

I take my daughter Darcie and niece Kyrie to games. If you want to attend, don’t be intimidated. There are many welcoming fans. If you do have concerns about inappropriate behaviour, do not hesitate in reporting it.

AND FINALLY...DID YOU KNOW?

Oldham played Aldershot for the first time on 6th September 1958 and most recently on 23rd February 1974.

As things stand, we have an equal record of seven wins and two draws each so it's all to play for on Friday at Boundary Park.
