The OAFC Her Game Too team will be interviewing a visiting female fan ahead of every home game so we can learn a bit more about them and their team.
We would like to thank Tannia for being our first participant!
Name
Tannia Cook
Team
Dorking Wanderers
Can you tell us something special about your hometown that we may not know?
Dorking is famous for the “Cock on the Roundabout” and in 2012 the Olympics were at Boxhill for their cycling. The zig zag as they call it.
Tannia & a few friends decorated the Cock on the Roundabout for the semi final and final playoffs.
How far have you travelled to watch your team?
The furthest travel I have made was to Bath when we had an away game.
What got you in to football ?
I’ve always been a football fan and love watching the World Cup games. I am also a fan of the German club Borussia Dortmund (BVB) as I lived in Germany for 38 years.
Favourite memory as a fan ?
My favourite memory when we got promoted to the National League. But I have many favourite memories.
Predictions for this season for your team ?
I am hoping Dorking will be mid table end of the season but football can be a funny game. To think it’s our first season ever in the National League is phenomenal.
Player for us to look out for?
Josh Taylor, Matt Briggs, Alfie Rutherford, Bobby Joe and Nick Wheeler are my favourite players and also our goalkeeper, Slav Huk.
Predictions for todays game?
I am hoping for a win for Dorking maybe a 1:0 or 2:1
What would you say to any women and girls who are thinking about getting into football playing/fan?
I think football has become a sport also for women as we’ve seen with the England national team who have just won the Euros. It’s a great atmosphere to be with friends and mix with the players to know them better.
Tannia with her husband Neil who is also a Dorking Wanderers fan.
Dorking Wanderers are a family friendly Club who welcome everyone. The away games on the coach is always good fun and a laugh. You have to make memories as life is too short and the Dorking Wanderers is my happy place. We are also a group of supporters and known as the Peaky Wanderers. You meet new people from everywhere and become friends in the end. We all have a little banter but which club/fans don’t.
If you haven’t heard of The Bunch of Amateurs then go on YouTube. It’s all behind the scenes from Dorking Wanderers. Great laugh, goosebumps and how it is being part of the Club
